Our April meeting will be packed with actions for our upcoming year. We will approve our grant recipients, our budget for FY03, new Board members, and actions to be taken at the International Convention. We will have an update on the District Conference and our Global Event and, a call to assist with fund-raising for the Convention fund. Now that Spring (or did we just move right into Summer?) is finally here, I hope that you will all be able to join us this evening.

You will also have an opportunity to sign up for the committee of your choice at the April meeting. I know that each of you is being asked to do things for the District Seminar and of course, we all have our responsibilities for the Global Event, but we need you to take on a committee responsibility as well. The responsibilities of these committees are not onerous, nor terribly time-consuming, but terribly important to our work together. Please take on a challenging commitment, try something new.

I need to say that I am seriously concerned about our lack of prospective members at our March meeting. This year, we have experienced a net loss of 1 member. We have made huge strides towards increasing our membership but we can't afford to let that stop. As we continue to age, (yes, unfortunately it is true for all of us) it gets harder and harder to do all that we would like to be able to do.

We need new members and hopefully, younger members. It's the "doing" that keeps each of us vital as well as our organization. Helping at the Women and Children's Recovery Community, assisting the HWAT, planning our Global Event and the District Seminar stretches each of us and keeps us active in our community, giving us opportunity to meet women who might be prospective members to Zonta.

I know that many of you have been making these connections for years and have brought in a number of new members, some that are still here and some that are not. I know it can be discouraging when they don't join or don't stay, but we need to keep working at it. We really need some new members.

Our May meeting will be an opportunity for our granting organizations to make a report on their work. You all remember how exciting PaDur's presentation about the HWAT was last Fall. Please bring a prospective member to this meeting. Help them know more about Zonta.

Enjoy these wonderful days and see you next week!
