President's Notes:

Included in this newsletter is important information about the upcoming District Meeting and the Global Event. The committees have been working hard on both of these events and it's time for each of us to get involved.

Also included is a report on the International Convention. I want to thank each of you for your part in making it possible for Connie and me to attend this meeting and encourage you to think about traveling to New York for Convention in 2004.

The Prospective Member dinner in July was very promising with 4 potential members in attendance. I think they had a good time and learned a lot about Zonta. Hopefully, some of them will be joining us soon.

IRemember that our August meeting will be held at Peggy St. Germain's home on Tuesday, August 26th. It will be a potluck. And, although we will be spending our time on the District Meeting and Global Event, since it will be in an informal setting, it is still a good time to bring prospective members to a meeting.

I also want to thank the members who attended Edna Schwartz's memorial service. As a newer member to Zonta, I really never had the opportunity to get to know Edna, but what I learned of her pioneering work on women's rights made me incredibly proud to know that she was a member of Zonta. And, as she wished – a member of Zonta until the day she died. I've included a brief bio Edna prepared for Zonta a few years ago. I think you will find it amusing as well as informative.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer and I look forward to seeing each of you in just a couple of weeks.

Dues are Due!

Your dues for 2003 were due in May. If you have not yet paid your dues, please submit those payments to Peggy as soon as you are able. We hope that each of you will renew your membership. I know it becomes more difficult each year to make that commitment, but I urge you to remember what we are trying to accomplish in support of women throughout the world. Please renew your membership.
