Zonta Paul Issue 10 Page Two
November 27, 2001
ZONTA CLUB OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA
Regular Meeting

President Usher called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Joann U. urged members to look at our new web site developed by Peggy and Lou St. Germain. Everyone can have an email address. Contact Lou as he needs feedback. The history of our club needs additional material. Suggestions were made to utilize the files at the Minnesota Historical Society and conduct interviews with Edna S. and Lauraine T. long time members.

Members were encouraged to send an email to Joyce G. who has experienced a lot of trauma recently. The brag bag was passed.

Minutes: The minutes of October 16, 2001 were accepted as read.

Joann U. said to date International has not proposed any initiative to assist Afghan women. She suggested the Revolutionary Afghani Organization and Help the Children of Afghanistan. Ten Thousand Villages on Grand Avenue might be another avenue.

Treasurer's Report: Peggy St.G. reported the assets to date are $13,736.25. A breakout of the funds shows convention at $3423.77; general $2243.57, service $7825.78 and sunshine at $243.13. The 2001 Global Holiday Event net to date is $5896.08 slightly behind year 2000.

Finance: The committee will set a meeting date.

Program: Carole S. reported that the Minneapolis-St. Paul joint meeting is set for February. The January meeting is on a Sexual Harassment Study and the March date will feature the Women's Foundation. There was no legislative update as Representative McCollum has not responded to our question.

Poinsettia Fund Raiser: Carole S. reported that 277 plants have been sold to date. Any personal orders delivered to Liberty State Bank must be delivered by the seller or the other option is to arrange pickup at Linders shop.

Global Holiday Event: Connie N. reported the event was successful. There were 177 reservations with 164 present. Thanks went to Janet S. for procuring the speaker. The list of guests was very helpful. A review of silent auction items value versus the bid would be a useful tool in the future. An evaluation sheet was distributed and everyone was to complete it and return to Connie N.
Looking ahead to GHE 2002 we continue to consider a combined event in conjunction with the District meeting. We may need to consider a framework which allows guest clubs to perhaps have a “store” as is tradition. Suggestion for a possible speaker is Deborah Locke a writer at the Pioneer Press.

Membership: The list of prospective members is very short and efforts need to be continued to identify others. The December holiday program would be a good time to bring guests. Members might consider inviting some of their GHE guests.
