Prospective Member Dinner:
Please bring your prospective members to dinner at Joann and Connie's home on Tuesday July 23rd, at 5:30 PM. Call 651-639-9566 to make your reservations for you and your guests. This is not a regular meeting, so if you don't have a guest, don't worry about coming to dinner.
August Meeting Location:
Our August meeting on the 27th will be at Peggy St. Germain's. We thought it might be fun to meet at a member's home during the summer. It's potluck. So, let Peggy know if you're coming and what you will be bringing.
Dinner Reservations:
Remember that you need to call Dorothy if you are NOT planning to come to a meeting. Otherwise, we will be expecting you to join us. And, we will return to our policy of billing you for meals that we reserve.
Global Event:
It's not too early to begin gathering silent auction items for the Global Event and encouraging your friends to come.

4th Annual Celebration of Hmong Women
       The Hmong Women's Action Team, a group dedicated to ending violence in the Hmong community through decreasing sexism, will be holding their 4th Annual Celebration of Hmong Women on August 3, 2002 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at the Red Lion Hotel located in Saint Paul. This banquet will celebrate two outstanding Hmong women and one outstanding Hmong man for their contributions in advancing the status of Hmong women and girls.
The awards to be received are:
              - The Hmong Women's Leadership Award. This award will recognize one Hmong women for outstanding leadership in the community.
              - The Courage to Make a Difference Award. This award, to received by one woman and one man, will recognize their courage to make a difference by changing systematic and structural barriers in order to provide a safe environment for Hmong women and girls.
Posters of these three community leaders will be produced and available at the banquet free of charge. These posters are used to increase awareness of Hmong leaders in the community who are willing to stand up for Hmong women's rights and will be distributed to local Hmong communities nationally.
Invitations to the event will be mailed out the week of June 18th. This banquet is free to the community due to the generous donations of sponsors.
