ZONTA CLUB OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA
Annual Meeting

President Usher called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM. The Brag Bag news included a son's top medical sales award; son on the dean's list; St. Olaf grandson graduate to Shanghai; neighborhood reunion of all families' kids, a Macalaster graduate; and daughter's architectural program acceptance at the U. of Arizona.

President's Report

All members are asked to sign on for a 2002-2003 committee assignment. Members are asked to sign up to operate a booth with Minneapolis at the NOW Conference June 21-23, Radisson St. Paul Riverfront. Contact Joann U. or Lynette Smith (Mpls.) for schedule, materials and free entrance badge.

Global Holiday Event/ District Seminar:
Main speaker will be Dorothy Anton, casting director and playwright, who will present vignettes of well known women. Member, Susan ONeil, will provide musical enhancement. Other conference speakers include: Harriet Bishop first teacher in Minnesota reenactment; Clarene Menzies, Somali woman from City Inc.; HWAT speaker; UNICEF speaker and Kenton Spading(tentative) author of a new book on Amelia Earhart.

Joann U. called on Marge N. to give a report on our volunteer work project at WCRC re Mother's Day gift making. The team included Marge N., Romelle H., Janet S. Shirley N., and Evelyn McD. The children made pins and gift tags and filled baskets.

The Annual Report was distributed and presented by the President. The piece will be used throughout the year as an informational item.

Minutes:
Were approved as printed in the May 2002 Zonta Paul Newsletter.

Treasurer's Report:

The balance sheet for FY02 was presented and detailed. Total liabilities and equities equal $9,992.77. The report will be filed for audit.
The amount of $1224 from the Convention fund will support our delegate and alternate to attend the convention in July, 2002 in Sweden. The St. Cloud Club has sent $100.00 and asked alternate Connie N. to serve as their proxy. M/S/P That the $100.00 be directed to the Convention Fund. The IRS 990 tax application is still pending. A question was raised and will be researched as to last year's monetary gifts to be deposited in this tax free fund. Membership dues of $110.00 for the 2002-2003 year are now due.

Committee Reports:

Program:
Legislative-The governor vetoed all dollars for arts programs in Minnesota.

Area 3 Meeting:
Four members attended the meeting in Brainerd. Highlights shared by Erma McG, included District 7 Governor Christopherson's report that district membership is 662; all clubs financially supported the Foundation Fund; Whapeton-Breckenridge received a $25,000 Break the Circle of Violence grant; Jo Rockwell is helping form a new club in Rochester; review of International By Law changes and the upcoming awards of the Young Woman in Public Affairs and the Jane Klausman scholarships.

The Area meeting focused on women's issues. Four speakers spoke to the topics of receiving a heart transplant; surviving breast cancer; dramatic weight loss/physical fitness and the challenges of holding and losing political office plus the nature of hands on healing. The messages were poignant yet laced with humor and gave us inspiration for our daily lives. About 30 members were present.

Finance/Ways and Means:
Linder's Garden gift certificates remain on sale from Lois N.

Service:
The final reports from the 2001-2002 funded projects were presented.
