PRESIDENTS MESSAGE. . . . .Welcome Lollie Coleman! We are delighted you joined our club. We look forward to working with you as we continue to Improve the Status of Women locally and globally. A very special "THANK YOU from the bottom of my HEART" to each of you for bringing together our Sixth Annual Global Event. It is looking like another wonderful evening with 183 guests joining us. Many thanks to Lois for her direction, guidance, & follow up! We will have the results for you at our November meeting. We will welcome Zontian Mari Anne Zahl from Trondheim, Norway to our November meeting. Evelyn has been in contact with her and they shared information on our Zonta friend, Matte Kjeldsberg formerly from Trondheim, Norway. Mari Anne will be on sabbatical at the U of M through May and will be joining us at our activities. Carole, Evelyn and I visited The Advocates, Inc. Center. They would appreciate any volunteer services we could provide. The three areas in need are reading & interacting with the children, assisting in their office and/or working in their clothing supply room with sorting and arranging the items. The center is very bright, cheery, and warm with friendly, competent staff. We will want your input in developing a plan for hands on service projects there. Lois, her friend, Jill and I attended the Minneapolis Holiday Fund-raiser on Sunday. It was a very enjoyable event. November 25 is International Day for eliminating violence against women. Our speaker on the 23rd will be Judge Mary Klas who will address the topics 'what is violence' and legal reform. This is our first program meeting so please invite guests and prospective members to join us. If anyone has a copy of our Sunshine guidelines please contact me. REMEMBER you have a standing reservation for each dinner meeting. You need to call Only IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE to attend! Romelle |

Holiday Baskets for Visiting Nurse (Club 100) We'll be providing Holiday Baskets again for the nurses from Club 100 to distribute to those in need during the upcoming holiday season and your help is needed. Please bring items to the November 23 meeting and we'll gather a few volunteers to join us at Evelyn's home in early December to sort, pack and deliver in time for the holidays. This year we're going to include some additional items (rather than fruit because of the cold weather). We'll arrange to purchase bags for stuffing, along with some additional items based on what you all donate, so here are some suggestions to help get you started. Please remember, all food items need to be store wrapped and we want to avoid things like nuts and anything perishable. We will make approximately 25 bags so you can bring 25 of one thing or you can bring whatever quantity you want and we'll just divide what we have. Toys for infants (books, blocks/stackables, rattles, things that stimulate young children) Baby blankets Personal hygiene items for Moms/family (soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, combs, hair brushes, hand/body creme, cologne, shampoo, make-up, mirrors, etc.) Candy (wrapped) Cookies, bars, sweet treats Dried fruit (no nuts) Boxed drinks, hot chocolate mix, plastic bottled juice, etc. Holiday napkins, centerpiece, decorative items Scratch pads, note cards, pens, etc. Scarves, gloves for the ladies |
