Presidents Column

Joann Usher

Again, my notes will be brief.

I hope that you are all busy selling poinsettias. Has anyone discovered another bank that will allow us to sell in their lobby? This is a really easy way to significantly increase our sales. Remember that we will be selling poinsettias at the Liberty State Bank on December 6th. Hope you can help.

Our December meeting, on the 17th will feature the Lake Country of Sweet Adelines International. I hope you will bring guests, your spouses, partners, etc to this holiday celebration.

I will try to meet with Peggy prior to our meeting so that we can get a final accounting of the District Seminar and Global Event to report to you at our meeting.

I must admit that between the Global Event, my daughter’s wedding and now the Chorus’ concerts only 3 weeks away, I’ve not spent much time on Zonta.

But, please know that I am seriously concerned about our membership. This is an issue that we will need to have conversation about both at our Board meetings and at our business meeting in January.

Thanks for all you do for Zonta. And, see you on the 26th.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, November 26

There has been some confusion about the date of our next meeting, mostly my own. But, please note that we will meet on our traditional 4th Tuesday of the month. This will be a business meeting, but I’m not aware of a lot of business to be covered, so it should not be overly long. If you are aware of items that must come before the members, please let me know.

Board Meeting

I would like to have a board meeting prior to the November 26th meeting. Let’s plan to meet at 4:30 at the Cherokee. Even though they don’t officially open until 5:00. I will try to see if they will allow us to come in at 4:30, since we don’t require any service, just a table and chairs. So, board members, please plan to attend.

HELP NEEDED

The Zonta poinsettia Fund Raiser has benefited the past three years through the table sale at the Liberty State Bank, Snelling and Selby Avenues. The lobby has been reserved again for all day, Friday December 6th. Member volunteers are needed including one to help oversee the sale. Shifts of two or three hours are between 8:45 A.M. to about 4:30 P.M. Call Erma McGuire at 651-224-5272 to indicate a willingness to help.

Jane M. Klausman Scholarship

The Zonta Club of St. Paul and Zonta International are once again offering the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship.

Notice of the scholarship has been sent to the six colleges and universities in St. Paul. Applications may be requested from Zonta International via the computer. www.zonta.org-programs/forms.
