Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for Zonta. I think we're going to create a Seminar format that will be hard to beat. Thank you so much! See you all on Tuesday, September 24th back at the Cherokee Room. Kathy Pulse I received a card last week from Kathy. She seems very confident that she will recover and is most appreciative of the cards, phone calls and prayers. Please keep in touch with her. Zonta Club of St. Paul Charitable Foundation – At our meeting last month, Peggy St. Germain presented the by-laws and documentation required by the IRS for the forming of a charitable foundation. If you recall, we had agreed that we wanted to seek a 501(c)3 tax-exempt classification from the IRS so that we could accept charitable contributions which would be tax deductible for the donors. Many months ago, Peggy filed the necessary documents with the IRS and finally, we were refused. The IRS did however, advise us to create a charitable foundation and re-apply. Peggy prepared by-laws which create a foundation board which consists of the board members of our club. This board will determine the distribution of funds based on the Service Committee's recommendations to the full membership and their approval, just as we have done in the past. We will need to create a separate checking account for the foundation and funds from our fund-raisers will be deposited in that account, as well as any other charitable contributions. Having this 501(c)3 classification will enable us to accept tax-deductible contributions, especially estate gifts. Thank you Peggy, for keeping on top of this. We will distribute copies of the by-laws of the new Foundation at our next meeting. DISTRICT SEMINAR/GLOBAL EVENT ASSIGNMENTS: Friday, October 11 Transportation – We have not promised assistance with transportation for our guests who are flying in (6 from St. Louis), but if you might be available for an airport run, could you let us know? At our meeting on the 24th we will have a map of the facility and room assignments available for you .
