She is the first American-born saint. Founded the first U.S. Order of Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Sept 20, 1973 - Billie Jean King defeats Bobby "No broad can beat me" Riggs in battle of the sexes tennis match. Service Projects Update We had a great turnout for our President's Dinner last month. Donna Moores from Women's Advocates gave an informative presentation and we presented her with the blankets made at our July service meeting. We also added $300 to our convention fund from this event. |

Women's Advocates, Inc. 2005 Fundraising Breakfast SHELTER FROM THE STORM to be held on: Thursday, October 27, 2005 We have been invited to join Women's Advocates for their first annual Shelter from the Storm fundraising breakfast. We will have a table of ten reserved for us and we, Zonta, will be acknowledged at the event!This is a free event. Participants will be invited to make a charitable donation to Women's Advocates, Inc. The event will be held on Thursday, October 27, 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m at the Town and Country Club, St. Paul, Minnesota. Please advise Team Captain Romelle at our September dinner meeting if you can join her at this event. |

Northwest Youth and Family Services: Announces Date for Fall Gala On Oct. 29, NYFS supporters from across the metro area will meet at Midland Hills Country Club for our sixth annual gala fundraiser, "Building Healthy Communities One Family at a Time. "Featuring entertainment by Prudence Johnson, the event will feature a live and silent auction, full dinner, dancing and door prizes. Tickets are $75 and will only be sold in advance. DINNER ATTENDANCE Rules: Members are to call Dorothy if they are unable to attend no later than that the Friday before the monthly meeting date. If you do not call, it will be assumed that you are attending and you will be billed for that meeting. If you are unable to attend due to last minute circumstances, you will be billed for that meeting. Exception: Please contact Dorothy for the September meeting by September 23rd so that she can give Joseph's the reservation numbers. It's Official! Zonta Club of St. Paul Charitable Foundation has a savings account at Bremer Bank. The memorial fund balance of $740.63 was transferred to the new account in July. We have received one gift to the Foundation this year from one of our members! The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and contributions to it are fully deductible if they meet the IRS qualifications for a donation. Anyone wishing to donate to the Foundation, please make your gift payable to Zonta Club of St. Paul Charitable Foundation. | ||

District 7 Fall Conference Update: District 7 fall conference will be held Friday, September 30th to Sunday October 2nd at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The cost of the conference is $155, and lodging at the Drury Lodge will be $79.99 plus tax per night. If you have an interest in going, please see Carole or Romelle at the President?s Dinner. We may be able to carpool with St. Cloud, Minneapolis or Brainerd club members. We also need to select a delegate from our Club. Registrations are due by September 10th. Global Event Planning:We will be starting the Global Event Planning soon! It is not too soon to start getting silent auction items or letting your friends and families know about our event. It will be held on Friday, January 20th at the History Theatre in St. Paul ? performance of Bandaids, Candlesticks and Johnny Unitus ? three plays written by Minnesota writers. We hope it will be the best Global Event yet! | ||

Poinsettia Sales:In addition, it is not too early to start thinking Poinsettias. We are looking for someone to help Shirley take on this project, so please be thinking about what your role might be.
