First, I want to thank the Hospitality Committee for successfully choosing a new location for our
meetings. The space was comfortable, bright and accessible. The food was delicious and the
service was excellent. Thanks for the hard work.
I believe that at our last meeting our committees began to define their tasks for the upcoming
months. The Finance Ways and Means Committee has a meeting date set for August 8th 2001.
The 75th Anniversary Committee has identified some ways for us to celebrate or 75th anniversary
this year. The Program Committee is working some great ideas for speakers for our meetings. The
Membership Committee has scheduled the summer Prospective Member Dinner.
Communications and PR will be working closely with the Service and Anniversary Committees
to identify ways we can garner some media coverage of our club. The Service Committee was
unable to meet, but I know they have many items on their agenda for this year.
I hope each committee will review the long-range goals and identify one or two to work on this
year. We will be revising and updating this document in the Spring, so keep that in mind as you
plan your work for the year.
Many thanks to Peggy St. Germain and her husband, Lou; who have been developing a web page
for Zonta St. Paul. They will unveil the first draft for the Board at their August meeting. In this
age of electronic communications, it will be great to have a web page where people can go to get
information about our club. It will be great for prospective members.
I'm really excited about the speaker for our upcoming Global Holiday Event. I think Ms.
Register will once again help us attract a full house. I encourage you to read some of her books
before the event; I know I plan to. Thanks to Janet Shannon for contacting Cheri. We'll kick off
our ticket sales and silent auction drive at our August meeting. Be prepared to meet as
committees for this event at that meeting.
I hope you're enjoying summer in Minnesota and see you at our August meeting.
